Bush is a realist on immigration unlike the republicans further to the right on immigration. The economists that study immigration now the trend about immigration with technology, and communications the workforce is becoming global and lower end white collar work is going to india to supplement the higher end jobs like lawyers, managers, engineers, and in the next 30 years 30 million jobs will be outsourced. Mexicans are not the ones to blame for the immigration problems its the goverment having too low of number allowed in to work legally in the labor markets, and over time Mexico and Untied States are gonna become more interdepant, and the economies of both nations will realiize that to make both countries grow economically faster they gotta open immigration in both directions slowly overtime. The congreess is gotta at least provide residency for the people working here, and I have no problem with them requried to learn the english language, and paying back taxes, but I know deportation of 12 to 20 million people will be economic and humanaratian crisis.

Most people on here have their own clear cut opinions about illegal aliens, which may or may not agree with the White House, President Bush, or any other political candidate. Political candidates have their own agenda, which generally hinges on votes and money, not necessarily what is always best for America.
Most people on this site, in other words, are opposed to illegal aliens, amnesty, and anything other than sending them back to where they came from.
FIX the problems leading to at least 12 million illegal aliens BEFORE talking about any type of change to our immigration laws.

If you don’t like answers that are biased or potentially biased, do your own research.

Do you really think that anything coming from the whitehouse is going show government accountability? That would mean they would have to take the blame for how they sold out our country. They would have to explain their back door deals and poorly executed free trade agendas that lined the pockets of major corporations and slit the throats of middle class America and middle class Mexico. Research is in the numbers my friend, not in a whitehouse document.

What makes you think that something from the white house isnt biased?
It is an interesting site but really, I take anything from Washington with a lot of skepticism.

No. I like the fireworks. I feel that I am not alone in my convictions.

Unbiased and whitehouse should not be put in the same sentence. You’d have better luck getting me to believe in the tooth fairy.

The website you provided couldn’t be any more biased than it already is.
“So if you can’t get the information on the bill before our government from the government where exactly DO you think you’ll get it?Seseame Street?”
No. You get it from people that have read and studdied the bill - the devil is in the details .Trust the people, not the government:http://www.heritage.org/Press/Misc/immig…
By the way, Sesame Street would present a more fair view of reality than the Bush administration does.

I feel it is more of a race issue. I posted a question a few days ago called “Did you know……?”. A lot of answers seemed more racially motivated. Some complained that the “illegal” immigrants (mostly hispanic - which many consider all are “Mexican”)Where taking from the system instead of giving back such as in taxes paid verses getting welfare and food stamps. In most instances it is not true - they know it, they are just trying to make the “Mexicans” the scape-goat for an on going problem in this country caused by US citizens. Instead of blaming the major minority “African-Americans” since 1965 for the issue of govt assistance, then the Asians in the 1970’s, then the “Indians” in actuality Middle Eastern people (hotel and convenient store owners) in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. They now have a new person to blame everything on. Remember, there are good and bad people in every culture. There are an equal amount of US citizens and legal immigrants not paying taxes as there are illigal immigrants. There are an equal amount getting paid under the table. This is not only an illegal immigrant issue this is US citizen issue and there will always somebody not willing to take the responsibility for their own actions. To steer the heat off of them it is always the other person ( especially not white) that started it and is “doing” the wrong.
I don’t think you will ever get a straight forward and insightful discussion from any of these people. It is truly sad. There are luckily, those few that will look at all sides in and out of the box. Hopefully those will be the ones that will leave a worthwhile comment.
Don’t worry about being politically correct - just be politically involved!

Okay…it shows what they’ve done, and that obviously hasn’t worked. It clears up nothing. It simply shows the ineptitude in action. What do I think about it? I think it highlights the failures in immigration, and to use an old adage, you can take a pig…any pig…and you can put lipstick on it to make it look better. At the end of the day all you still have is a pig with moist lips, but it’s still just a pig.

this sounds good but is not true.. This bill is nothing but amnesty.. they had to word it and make it sound tough on the illegals, but it just won’t happen. Look at the border security now.. oh yeah, there are more border patrol agents and national guard around the borders, but they are not allowed to do their jobs.. how many are sitting in jail or prison right now for doing their jobs and the illegals are free??? also, the national guard are there just for show. They have orders not to do anything when they see an illegal. As for the fines, they will not happen, as for people going back to their country and coming back legally, this will not happen.. this bill has so many flaws. The illegal alien problem is at an all time high right now.. there is no way the policies are working. if they were, there wouldn’t be 12 million (or many more) illegals in this country…
