Best Way To Connect Dlp To Pc (desktop)?
Help! I’m using an Optoma DLP. I think the model is EP749. I can currently connect only via the monitor port on my PC. This means I have to connect and reconnect my monitor — not a very good set up. The DLP came with a cord that will connect to the DLP’s RS-232 port and the PC’s male 9-pin port. But when I connect them this way, the DLP can’t find the CPU no matter how many times I toggle the “source” button. I can buy a cord but I’d like to buy the right one. (Best of all would be not to have to buyone at all….)
Here are the ports available on the PC (excluding the VGA port, which I’d like to avoid, as I said above):
25-pin female; 9-pin male; and, of course, several USBs.
On the DLP:
VGA-in port; s-Video; RS-232.
Thank you, all you technical people! I’m a teacher in a school where there’s no money for IT, so my students and I really appreciate your help!

Better just use a VGA splitter:http://www.national-tech.com/specs/10h1-…http://www.monoprice.com/products/produc…
Your monitor always stays plugged but there is another VGA port available for the DLP. Both may work simultaneously or you could just turn OFF monitor if not needed.
